Inktopia Kids is a community where young writers can share their writing, connect with other readers and writers, and discover inspiration for new writing. Inktopia Kids invites young writers to write their world, right where they are.

Inktopia Kids was created out of a passion for providing creative writing fun for children. As a teacher and a mother to three young children, I have a deep appreciation for getting children to write early and often, but I know that it can be difficult for parents to find the time to create spaces, gather materials, and generate prompts to help children get excited about the possibilities of a blank page.

As I wrote with my children and created small writing workshops for my children’s friends, I saw just how excited children get when, to borrow a line from one of our favorite stories, The Dot, they “make a mark and see where it takes them.” So I decided to create a way to spread the ink to others.

Inktopia Kids was created to celebrate children’s natural creativity and curiosity through writing and writing-related crafts. We want to make writing fun, engaging, and inspiring. We want children to be excited about sharing their words with others, or to relish in the chance to keep their words all to themselves. Our Write Where You Are Writing Kits have been tested by a community of young writers – our behind the scenes inksters – to ensure the projects are age appropriate and engaging.

At Inktopia Kids, we also share books and writing materials with children in various parts of the United States and throughout the world so that they can enjoy and learn from enriching writing experiences, too. In the past, we have contributed books to preschools and orphanages in Vermont (United States), Nigeria, and Trinidad and Tobago. Currently, we are partnering with Ray of Hope, a not-for-profit organization, to provide Write Where You Are Writing Kits, books, and summer camp opportunities to children in need in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies.

We love working on Inktopia Kids and cherish the involvement that our children and friends have in bringing these writing products to life. We’re excited about the opportunity to help provide writing experiences for your family and friends to share, too.

Have fun as you “write where you are”!
