Happy Earth Day, Inksters!
When we first got the idea for Inktopia Kids, students heard the name and the original motto — Write your World — and created this drawing:
It was Inktopia Kids’ first logo and an appropriate one to share here on Earth Day.
Today, make sure to grab your Writing Journal and pencil and find your way outside. Explore for a while and then find a place where you can settle down. Perhaps it is at the base of a tree, or in the middle of a garden, or on a swing at your favorite playground.
Whether you are in the city, country, or somewhere in between, take the time to enjoy the piece of Earth you find yourself in today. Use your senses. What do you see, smell, hear, feel, taste? How does this place help you imagine? What do you want to preserve of this place? What do you want to change about it?
Jot down words, ideas, drawings in your Writer’s Notebook that help you describe all the unique elements of this place.
Enjoy Earth Day as you write about your part of the world.
